Super Lemon Haze (SLH) is an award-winning strain that has won multiple cannabis tasting cups around the world. The strain first appeared in Amsterdam in the late 1990s and since then it has remained a staple on the global cannabis scene. Origins and Genetics of Super Lemon Haze Cannabis Strain

Super Lemon Haze is a sativa-dominant hybrid with a real lemon kick that additionally stimulates the mind and the body. It’s around 75% sativa, while THC levels can range between 16% and 22%, depending on the seed you find. The strain comes from the same creator of its parent strain Super Silver Haze - Arjan of Green House Seeds.

As an offspring of Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze, Super Lemon Haze is indeed a cross of two very interesting genetic lineages. The first is the skunky, citrusy lineage of Lemon Skunk, itself originating from the legendary Skunk #1. On the other end, the haze lineage is what gives the resinous buds and superb cerebral high to Super Lemon Haze. Effectively, Super Lemon Haze cannabis blends the best of its classic parent strains - the pungent citrus of Skunk and the psychedelic punch of Haze.

Effects

Thanks to its sativa genetics, Super Lemon Haze energizes the body and helps away with fatigue. Anticipate a boost in both mood and body energy. The ‘happy’ sensation settles in almost instantly. From its haze lineage, SLH can also ignite creativity, and improve focus and social skills. It’s an interesting train of thoughts that starts after you smoke it. As the initial head rush dissipates, a mild body relaxation may follow - a nod to the strain’s minor indica lineage. Far from couch-lock, this is rather a pleasant muscle relaxation that overtakes the body.

Medical Uses

Super Lemon Haze cannabis can counteract depression, mood swings, and chronic stress. Due to its analgesic potential, it’s also used for pain problems and managing health conditions such as chronic back pain or discomfort in other parts of the body, also headaches or migraines

Terpenes

The strain is rich in terpinolene, which contributes to its uplifting effects. Notably, SLH is also known to produce substantial amounts of limonene, the citrusy terpene found in other marijuana strains and citrusy fruits such as lemon, orange, lime, grapefruit, etc.

Taste and Flavor

One of the ultimate lemon-flavored strains and everything you can expect from a strain bearing a ‘lemon’ in its name. If you are growing autoflower, the taste might lean on the sweet side a little bit.

Growing Difficulty

Super Lemon Haze has a moderate growing difficulty. Home cultivators should be familiar with various training techniques that might be needed during the growing process, including topping, pruning, SOG, ScrOG, and staking.

Yield

Super Lemon Haze can produce up to 800 grams for outdoor plants. The harvest can range anywhere between 550 and 800 grams for indoor plants, depending on how well you take care of the crops. Plan for harvest in late October (for Northern hemisphere) or late April (Southern hemisphere).

Flowering

Super Lemon Haze cannabis usually flowers in 9-10 weeks. Indoor plants will take around 9 weeks, though this can sometimes vary and the colas might be ready early around week 8 or late around week 11. Take a note that plants continue to stretch significantly in the first weeks of the flowering period.

What Is the Optimal Grow Environment to Cultivate Super Lemon Haze Cannabis?

SLH crops are ideally cultivated in warm climates, in the temperature range of 70 to 80 °F (21-27°C), and lowering those temperatures once flowering is initiated. Humidity should be kept around 40-50% in line with the growth stages. Plants need to be provided with plenty of light as well as good draining soil with pH level of around 6.0-6.5 to ensure healthy nutrient uptake. Growing in fabric pots will enable you better control over soil quality and root health.

With the optimal grow conditions, Super Lemon Haze will produce dense, elongated buds cladded with resin and bursting with its signature lemon scent. The strain can also be grown in a hydroponic setting, which will speed up the growth process and get you an early harvest.

How to Deal with Tall Plants?

Growing Super Lemon Haze marijuana means you are dealing with tall and over-stretching plants that can reach around six feet. Therefore, planning your grow space beforehand is important. Plants need to have sufficient space for vertical growth and stretching. During vegetation, trellis and gardening nets can help distribute the growth of the Super Lemon Haze strain, and promote the formation of even canopy. After that, in flowering, you should be able to provide additional support, such as stakes or ties to prevent bending or breaking as Lemon Haze grows heavy from the buds.

Outdoor plants should be additionally shielded from the elements of nature. Placing them near a fence or using windbreaks is recommended to protect from winds. Indoor plants should be placed in a grow room with proper ventilation to regulate airflow. An efficient exhaust system with a carbon filter will control the lemony odors and avoid accumulation of heat or moisture.

Training Techniques for SLH

You are cultivating tall and lanky plants with Super Lemon Haze, therefore not only do you need to plan the grow space, but also dedicate time to train plants. Methods such as topping, low-stress (LST), Sea of Green (SOG), or Screen of Green (ScrOG) could all help manage your lemon-flavored plants. In addition, these methods can boost the flower output. Vegetation Stage of Super Lemon Haze Cannabis

Here’s how to take care of Super Lemon Haze plants during the vegetation period.

Lighting18-20 hours of light per day. For indoor growing, use LEDs or HPS lamps. Reflective materials can also be added in the grow tent/room to maximize light distribution. Outdoors, ensure that plants grow on a spot that is exposed to plenty of natural light.

Environment: Keep in the regular warmth and humidity parameters of 70 to 80°F (21-27°C) with around 50 percent humidity

Training: Apply Low-stress training techniques to control the canopy. Topping will help you manage the height and shape of plants, while pruning lower branches and leaves can improve the access of light and air.

Flowering Stage for Your Lemon-Flavored Strain

This is when the strain’s signature lemon-scented buds start to appear.

LightingRegulate 12-12 light and dark hours to instigate flowering. Stick to a consistent light schedule. Even with fewer hours of lights, Super Lemon Haze still demands exposure to intense light, therefore the use of reflective materials indoors could be of really great help. Just don’t forget to keep an eye on the distance between the grow lights and the canopy.

Environment: Adjust to a slightly lower temperature range during flowering, such as 65-75°F (18-25°C). Humidity should also be reduced to around 40-45%. Optimization of these factors will stimulate resin production and help avoid the risk of mold or mildew.

Training: You will no longer need to train plants, but you will probably need to add support as they become bigger and heavier. Stakes or trellis can ensure that Super Lemon Haze cannabis plants do not break under their own weight, which if it happens, will result in the loss of nice-looking buds.

Pest control: SLH cannabis is a resilient strain, however, it should still be checked regularly for the appearances of any unwanted mites. Taking protective actions, such as planting companion plants in your outdoor garden or maintaining a well-ventilated space indoors, can significantly reduce the chances of any problems with bugs or fungi.

Feeding Super Lemon Haze Cannabis Plants

A well-balanced diet is needed to grow strong and vigorous Super Lemon Haze cannabis plants. Nitrogen-rich formula during vegetation will facilitate the formation of healthy leaves and stem growth. Flowering-specific solutions rich in phosphorus and potassium, will promote bud formation and overall plant health. Optionally, you can add immuno-boosters and blooming supplements. Micronutrients such as Silica can strengthen the branches as the buds start to gain weight in the later part of the flowering cycle. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between watering sessions, but be cautious not to create a drought in your garden.

Happy growing!
