Cannabis drinks are all the rage these days, while nibbling space cookies or gummies is always a welcome sweet addition to lunch or dinner. Both give great high! But what about trying smoothies at some point? If you’ve had it all - smoothies are you next bet for a tasty incredible punch. Just follow the easy customizable recipe in this article as we explain how to make cannabis smoothies at home.

Normal smoothies without THC or CBD in it are already amazing, creamy and yummy, but add your favorite cannabinoid and you are taking smoothies to another level. Cannabis smoothies are an excellent choice if you are thirsty for trying something else and in this case also healthier. Infusing smoothies with cannabis is simple and fast. Below we detail instructions on how to do it as well as some ideas on how to customize your smoothie with various ingredients to your pleasing.

What Ingredients Do You Need for a Tasty Cannabis Smoothie?

The number one ingredient you need to make infused smoothies is of course cannabis. The rest is a matter of your preferences. If you already have a favorite smoothie recipe that you regularly make - try to infuse it next time.

What matters the most is how to get the THC or CBD from your weed buds into another active ingredient that will later spike your blended juice.

Here’s a list of basic ingredients for preparing a single serving smoothie. You can always double on it to make more servings.

  • 250ml of milk (regular, organic, almond-milk, lactose-free, it’s up to you)
  • 75ml of whipping cream (liquid)
  • 2 spoons of honey (or maple syrup, agave nectar, etc.)
  • Half teaspoon of vanilla (optional)
  • Fruits (for example, pair bananas with strawberries or blueberries)

How to Prepare Cannabis for a Smoothie Infusion?

If you want to infuse any type of food or drink, you must have pot! Check your personal stash, or get those spare buds from the previous harvest. You don’t need to take out much to get on strength. Prioritize finding a good way to get the cannabinoids out of your buds and into your smoothie. You can always use butter to cook the weed with and unlock that precious THC or CBD. The other way to do it is to infuse the milk. Below are the key steps of that process:

  1. You can use about 3 grams of weed and grind it all up.
  2. Mix the milk with the cream and heat this mixture to a temperature of 150°F (65°C).
  3. Low simmer. Don’t overheat. Milk should never reach the state of boiling, which is  around 210°F (100°C).
  4. Time to add those beautiful buds in your milk-cream mix and continue to cook on low heat. Don’t forget that high temperatures may destroy THC and other compounds found in cannabis, so pay attention while cooking.
  5. Seeing small bubbles on the surface which are not from boiling is an indicator you are on a good path. Keep it up and finish simmering after an hour has passed.
  6. When you remove the mixture from heat, you will need to filter out any visible remnants of plant material. Use a cheesecloth to squeeze the liquid in a separate cup and let it cool down. The pot infusing process is now complete.

Two other important warnings!

First, don’t skip the whipping cream, because this is the ingredient rich in fat - needed for binding the cannabinoids. Milk alone only has a few percent of fat, while whipping cream can have around 30-35% of fat content.

The second thing. The color of your milk-cream-cannabis mixture will change during cooking, which is normal. There will be that ‘a-ha’ moment, when you say, ‘Okay, now I can remove the mixture from the heat.’

Once you’re done with infusing, it’s pretty easy to finish up making the cannabis smoothie. Put everything together in the blender - milks and fruits and honey - shake it up and then get high! Enjoy your cannabis smoothie. Don’t drink and drive!
