Buying cannabis seeds seems like a simple task at first glance, but numerous factors must be taken into account. If you proceed carelessly, you risk a failed harvest or other problems. This makes it all the more important to be well-informed before buying.

Even if you only consume cannabis recreationally and do not require it for any medicinal effects, that does not mean that you should just buy any seeds. There are many different types and effects in individual strains and a distinction between whether you want indica, sativa or hybrid should always be made. Do you want a strain to help you sleep, or help with anxiety or depression? Or do you want an energising strain that enhances motivation and concentration?

Seed Banks

Not all cannabis seed dealers are equal. There can be big differences in terms of selection, price and quality. Because of these differences, it is advisable to select your dealer or seed bank carefully. Clear indicators of quality are awards from Plants Cups and customer reviews.

THC

The THC content of cannabis varieties can vary greatly. While some strains only have between 10 and 20% THC, there are also very strong strains with 20 to 30% THC. Those who only smoke occasionally should start with a strain with a low THC content. Otherwise, they may not enjoy or get the best out of the experience. The same applies to passionate cannabis smokers if they get a strain that is too weak. When we buy cannabis seeds online, we can use the filter function to search for suitable strains. This prevents both scenarios.

Seed Type

"Regular seeds", which can be both male and female, are now much less common. Nevertheless, there are still some dealers who sell them. Regardless of the price, it is better to avoid such seeds.

Male plants will negatively affect your end yield and must be removed to protect the female ones. Otherwise, unwanted pollination will occur and your plants will not produce the sticky buds you require. Feminized seeds which are guaranteed to produce all female plants are therefore definitely the better option.

Quality

Do not neglect quality and buy cheap. Of course, price is an important criterion and there is no reason to pay for the most expensive seeds out there. However, good quality is important for a smooth cultivation process. Therefore it should always be a priority, check reviews and do some resesrch to make sure you are getting the best value for your money.
