POLICE have seized a tiny cannabis factory found hidden in a city wood.
PCSO Carl Snell, of the Southway neighbourhood policing team, said a dog walker alerted officers to the set-up at around 2.30pm Sunday.
He said: “The dog walker was in Bircham Woods, close to Derriford Hospital, when her dog ran off.
“She went after him and stumbled across it.
“It looked like they had used garden shears to cut down branches and camouflage it.”
The small plastic garden greenhouse appeared to have been set into the ground and contained eight cannabis plants.
PCSO Snell and PCSO Lucie Hibberd, of the Estover neighbourhood police team, dug through the undergrowth to recover the greenhouse later the same day.
PCSO Snell said: “If you hadn't gone looking you certainly wouldn't have found it.
“There were about eight plants, two just started and six starting to bud.
“It looked like the person dug a hole for the container to sit in and filled it with compost, then put the greenhouse over the top and then camouflaged it all. It looked like it'd been there for a while.
“The drugs will now be destroyed.”
