Legend Snoop Dogg unveiled his cannabis dispensary S.W.E.D. this summer. Along the way, he also launched a new cannabis line that pays homage to his late friend and music icon 2Pac. The 2Pac cannabis line was launched under Death Row Cannabis, and it includes flower, pre-rolls, and edibles.

The 2Pac Cannabis Line came around this July as part of Death Row Cannabis, which Snoop Dogg launched in 2023. The new cannabis brand honors Tupac Shakur, who’s left an everlasting mark in rap music and hip hop culture.

Each product on offer under the 2Pac cannabis line pays a tribute to Tupac. The branding uses familiar imagery and themes associated with the late musician. It’s a limited collection that commemorates the artist with never-before-released photos of 2Pac, and it’s a great way for fans to reconnect with his rich legacy and rebel spirit.

Death Row Records (DRR) was originally founded in 1991 and featured legendary hip-hop artists such as Tupac Shakur. Now that the label is helmed by Snoop Dogg, it continues its mission to enrich and celebrate hip hop. As part of the label, Death Row Cannabis offers premium cannabis brands that cherish iconic artists who were once part of it. In Snoop Dogg’s view, it only felt right that this new initiative starts with a name like 2Pac.

2Pac Cannabis Line Coincides with Snoop Dogg Entering Weed Retail

Snoop Dogg has entered cannabis retail at an exciting time for the industry, and he is definitely giving his own twist to it. With S.W.E.D., the rapper is bringing closer music culture and cannabis. The dispensary is on the lookout for collaborations with other hip-hop artists. Its goal is to anchor itself as a dynamic cultural hub within the cannabis community, says a company press-release.

Events hosted by the dispensary will aim to spotlight the intersection of cannabis and hip-hop by featuring live shows, art exhibitions, and educational activities. And that’s just one side of Snoop Dogg’s current affairs.

His other activities revolve around DRR and the subsequent launch of Death Row Cannabis nearly two years ago. Snoop vowed to restore the label to its former glory. The release of the limited edition honoring Tupac Shakur is building on that promise, as he was one of the most legendary artists to ever be part of DRR.

Tupac joined DRR in 1995 and went on to be one of the most significant names in the world of rap music. He was also a prominent advocate for political and societal change, using his platform to speak up for Black Americans.

Snoop Dogg’s choice to get the ball rolling with an artist such as Tupac is important. But there’s also a deeper connection behind. The famous story goes that 2Pac passed Snoop his first blunt.

“That first blunt sparked a friendship that ran deep,” Snoop said. “We’ll always have his music, but this is another way I can bring what was meaningful to 2Pac to his fans.”

The 2Pac cannabis line features five strains, including Alien OG and Take 1-4 phenotypes. Fans can vote for their favorite Take strain, and their input will ultimately help decide which strain stays in the exclusive permanent 2Pac collection due to be launched by the end of 2024.

The 2Pac exclusive release was initially made available in California dispensaries. The line is scheduled to arrive also in Michigan via partner Pleasentress by the end of the year.
