The Perfect Grow S2E7 - Questions & Answers
In episode 7, our professional Max from Royal Queen Seeds answers some of the most frequently asked questions.
Do feminized seeds have a disadvantage?
Not really, after all, the majority of people want female plants to be able to get the smokeable buds. Nevertheless, you should stay alert, because while regular seeds are known to produce both male and female plants, feminized seeds can sometimes also contain male seeds. If unnoticed, this can quickly become a nuisance.
How can you tell that a plant isn't going to make it?
If the plant hasn't grown much even 2 weeks after germination, and the roots aren't growing either, and maybe appear brownish, then the plant is most likely a dud.
What is the difference between male and female plants?
Male plants produce pollen and hardly any trichomes, while female plants produce flowers and numerous trichomes and the buds we want to smoke. The female plant is therefore preferred for consumption, while the male plant is used for breeding, for example.
What causes plants to change sex?
Plants release hormones when they are stressed. Therefore, stress should be avoided wherever possible to prevent your plants from becoming hermaphrodites. Environment control' plays a very important role here.
What can you do about cannabis odour?
You have two options here: either eliminate it or cover it up. For the former, tools such as activated carbon filters or ionizers are ideal. To mask the smell, you can put a small box with scented perfume or wax in the pipe fan (exhaust air).
How long should the weed be cured?
1 to 3 months is ideal, as this is the time during which the chlorophyll can be broken down and the terpenes can fully develop. We will devote ourselves to exactly this topic next weekâcuring.
