What appeared to be a planned arson attack on a Michigan cannabis dispensary quickly turned into a scene straight out of a dark comedy.

Surveillance footage from the Pure Cannabis Outlet in Monroe captured two masked suspects crashing a stolen Jeep Cherokee through the front entrance before attempting to set the store ablaze. But moments after pouring gasoline throughout the shop, one of the suspects accidentally ignited themselves while lighting the fire.

The video shows the pair rushing through the store after the crash, with one suspect grabbing cannabis products while the other spreads flammable liquid across the counters and floor. Seconds later, the ignition sparks a sudden fireball, sending at least one of the suspects running from the building with flames still visible on their body.

According to local authorities, the incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, and the vehicle used in the attack had reportedly been stolen from Detroit. The dispensary’s built-in sprinkler system activated almost immediately, preventing the fire from causing catastrophic damage and allowing the business to reopen later the same day.

Store owner Mike Bahoura described the incident as “amateur hour,” while investigators continue treating the case as a targeted arson attack. A reward has reportedly been offered for information leading to the suspects’ arrest.
