4 Delicious Recipes with Cannabis for the Holidays
It’s the season of love and understanding, and for a lot of foods that are traditionally prepared in time for family Christmas dinners. Those holiday dishes can also make use of some extra green magic as you can easily infuse them with a little bit of cannabis love. In this article, go through four different holiday recipes that you can lace with cannabis and get everyone high, higher than your Christmas tree.
1. Cannabis Infused Cranberry Sauce
First on the list is cranberry sauce. This holiday staple is a common side dish on the Christmas table that combines really well with a slice of turkey or other roasted meat. Preparing this delightful condiment is simple. Cranberries are turned into sauce after you boil them a little bit. Then, the easiest way to infuse the sauce is by adding some dissolvable cannabis powder.
Ingredients:
- 350 grams of cranberries
- 1 cup of maple syrup or coconut sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- Dissolvable cannabis powder
How to Prepare?
It’s important to time when to add the dissolvable cannabis powder. Cook the cranberries with the water and sugar or syrup until they start melting. The cranberries will start cracking in the pot, and you can add the powder solution once almost all of them burst. It’s really up to you how much powder you pour in. Be careful if the powder is too potent.
2. Mashed Potatoes
Nothing warms the belly like a good nourishing dish of potatoes in the winter. Potatoes are welcome in all kinds of dishes: baked, boiled or prepared as a soup. Mashed potatoes are commonly prepared in time for the holidays. You can also come up with your own infused version. This classic comfort food can be laced with good old cannabutter.
Ingredients:
- 400-500 grams of potatoes
- 100 grams regular butter
- 50 grams cannabutter
- A bit of green onion, garlic or chives (as per your choice)
- Half cup of cream
- Spices: salt, pepper and garlic powder (optional)
How to Prepare?
For this recipe, you first boil the potatoes until they get soft and mushy. Once done with this step, remove them from the water and add them to a large mixing bowl together with the melted butter and cannabutter, and all the other ingredients that you want in it. Mash together everything until it looks creamy and silky.
3. Christmas Cornbread with Cannabis
Christmas cornbread is another holiday classic. Soft and squidgy, cornbread can be perfect for breakfast or a quick snack. Or getting high with it.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of cannabutter
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- ¾ cup fine-ground cornmeal
- ¾ cup flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup of milk and 1 egg
How to Prepare?
You need two bowls. In one bowl, you first melt butter and cannabutter in the microwave. Beat egg into milk in a separate cup and add them in the butters once the butters cool slightly. In a second bowl, whisk together all the other ingredients needed for this holiday staple: cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Then, mix together the contents of both bowls and pour it all in a greased baking tray or a cake pan. Preheat the oven at 350° F. Bake until it turns golden. It should take around 20 minutes of baking.
4. Infused Gingerbread Christmas Cookies
The holiday magic is complete when you have some gingerbread Christmas cookies. All the better when they are baked with some weed. This is one of the treats that demands more attention as there are more ingredients on the list and more steps on how to produce the recipe correctly.
Ingredients:
- 50-80 grams cannabutter
- Equivalent amount of regular butter
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons dried ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- Half teaspoon ground cloves
- Half teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup unsulfured molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How to Prepare?
First, mix together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt, cloves, nutmeg and leave aside for a while. In a separate bowl, mix together the cannabutter, butter, brown sugar, and egg. You can do this with a mixer until the preparation looks smooth and nice. Third, beat in the molasses and vanilla spoon.
Back to the first bowl, with the dry ingredients. Turn on the mixer on a lower speed and mix the preparation but don’t overdo it. You don’t want to end up with a brittle dough. When the dough is ready, divide it into thirds and flatten each part into a disk; let it stay in the refrigerator wrapped in plastic for around 2 hours.
Final steps: preheat the oven at 350° F. Prepare the cookies with a cookie cutter to make shapes. Mind how thick each piece is. Arrange the cookies on a lightly floured tray about an inch apart. Then bake for about 10 minutes; the cookies are done when they feel firm on the touch. The gingerbread cookies then need to cool slightly, and if you wish to add some icing on them as a decoration make sure they’re completely cool.
Happy holidays!
