A LLANELLI man found with a variety of class B drugs has avoided a prison term.
Ashley Bryan, 26, was seen by police on Stepney Street, Llanelli, on October 3 where they saw him acting suspiciously and spoke to him before searching him.
They found five bags of cannabis in his jacket pocket and cash. Bryan was then arrested. His home at Andrew Street, Llanelli, was searched and found a bag of meow meow, cannabis and cash. Bryan, told police he was dealing drugs to fund his own habit. In total, officers recovered £478 in cash.
He said he would have made around £60 from selling the cannabis officers found in his jacket and that the cash which was in his pocket was to pay for his Sky TV subscription. He said the rest of the cash had been made from gambling.
Bryan said he had bought the meow meow the day before for £15.
He pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis, meow meow and one of possessing cannabis with intent.
John Allchurch, for Bryan, said his client had successfully battled a drug addiction. Before imposing a two-year intensive alternative to custody order, Recorder David Aubrey said: "I am going to try to assist you in trying to stay free of drugs." He said Bryan would have to pay £360 in costs, £60 victim surcharge and be subject to two years supervision.
