Insects in the Grow Room Friend or Foe?
Bugs are a problem in the grow room. However, cannabis growers can use some beneficial insects to their advantage. Two examples are ladybugs and lacewings. These little creatures are friends in cannabis cultivation. Their presence in the garden can help protect your plants and therefore allow for higher yields and better-quality buds.
Infestations in your cannabis crop can be a serious problem, and the longer you let them remain, the more problems they will cause.
Use Insects to combat Other Insects.
Unwanted visitors can be brought into an indoor growing environment, via dirty tools or low-quality soil mixes that have been contaminated before you even open them.
Most cannabis problems caused by insects usually manifest themselves through the leaves. Some insects specifically attack the shoots or roots, and virtually all of them can threaten your entire crop.
Ladybugs
If you grow outdoors and find yourself dealing with aphids, one of the best things to do is introduce ladybugs to your garden. These ferocious predators are known for their insatiable appetite for aphids and can devour dozens in a day making them the perfect “organic” way to control aphid infestations.
Ants
Ants and ant colonies in your outdoor garden can indicate the presence of aphids. But while they may be a signal, make sure you keep them out of your garden.
Predatory Mites
Predatory mites. Friendly mites that can eat and eliminate the presence of enemy critters. The green lacewing can be useful in the control of threatening insects like thrips, whiteflies, mealybugs, spider mites and aphids. To make lacewings stay, plant native wildflowers to provide additional nutrition.
