Harmony Extracts - Spannabis 2017

Barcelona was host to another epic Spannabis event this year and whilst the over zealous industry enthusiasts pack out the stalls and the booths, behind the scenes there are extraction artists and seed banks working hard to win 1st place in the Spannabis Cup. The level of competition is fierce and with so many new techniques and new strains being used, the world of extraction has never been so diverse. Soft Secrets sat down with 1st place winner for the Spannabis 2017 Extracts Cup, to find out more about their work and their entry this year. We spoke with Peter Papadopoulos from Harmony Extracts to find out more. SSUK: Congratulations on your recent 1st placement for the Spannabis 2017 extracts. Can you tell us where Harmony Extracts are from?

Thank you so much. This has been a truly amazing experience. The people of Barcelona have always been so kind and to actually win first place in the solvent category is a dream come true. Harmony Extracts are based in Denver Colorado. We are a new company but our extractors have years of experience. We are proud to be able to say that over the course of these years our extractors have produced over 1,000,000 grams of concentrates.

What is it that Harmony Extracts specialize in?

We specialize in connoisseur level concentrates. Our goal is to push technology forward and continue to create the best concentrates on this planet. We have a passion for creating competition worthy hash and set our standards at the highest levels possible. What was the winning entry and can you break down the strain used and what method of extraction was used?

Our 1st place winning entry was Banana Kush. This extraction was made using hydrocarbons and turned into our signature product our "nectar" which is the most refined form of hydrocarbon extraction that this planet has to offer. We isolate the THCa into crystals and separate it from the terpenes and then reintroduce everything back together at the end.

What was the level of competition like this year?

Spannabis is one of the biggest competitions in the world. The level of competition is always high (No pun intended). It is an opportunity to measure yourself against the best that the world has to offer. You also entered the Master's Cup in Barcelona. How did you get on there?

We placed third in the solvent category for the Masters Cup with Super Lemon Haze. It was also an honor to be a part of the first installment of this event. Nerd Extractions did an amazing job in putting this event together and we look forward to being a part of it again in the future. We send our love and support to them always.

Do you have tips for the readers who aspire to become an extract artist?

Yes, work hard and never stop learning. If you put in your time, you will always get better. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something that your heart tells you that you can.
