POLICE found cannabis stashed in the steering wheel of a car being driven by a Carmarthen teenager.
Aled Wyn Morgan's Peugeot 106 was stopped in Brewery Road at around 9.15pm on May 11, when they found the drugs in the car.
Morgan, 19, of Heol y Drindod last week pleaded guilty to possession of 1.5 grammes of herbal cannabis.
Prosectuor Gerald Neave told the court: "PC Jones spoke to the driver and smelt cannabis.
"While searching the vehicle he found a small bag of cannabis hidden in the centre of the steering wheel."
Aled Owen, in mitigation, said Morgan had started smoking cannabis to help cope with the stress of his job as a ground work machine driver and colleagues he found difficult to work with.
He added: "Two weeks ago he gave up his work, he left.
"Hopefully with this behind him he can move on in a more constructive way."
Morgan was fined £75 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and £20 victim surcharge.
