More than 180 cannabis plants have been discovered inside a Preston flat - just 500 metres away from the city's main police station.
The major discovery was made when officers raided the home in Margaret Street, in the city centre, after tip-offs from members of the community.
Inside, they discovered 182 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of around £72,800.
No one was inside the flat when officers raided it on Monday morning and no arrests have yet been made. Inquiries are ongoing.
Inside the house was a cannabis cultivation set up with some large plants.
Det Insp Gareth Willis, who is leading the investigation for Preston CID, today thanked members of the community who told police about their fears.
He added: "This was a significant find and has prevented a large amount of drugs from making their way onto the streets of Preston.
"I'd like to thank the local community for making us aware of this problem and would urge them to keep coming forward with any concerns that they may have about drugs and drug dealing in their neighbourhoods.
"We will always seek to take action on any information provided." Police are also appealing for anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity around the property to contact them.
