A Bafta-winning writer who admitted importing cannabis worth thousands of pounds has been jailed.

Austin Low, 28, from Aberdeen, ordered the package - disguised as a box of cookies - from America, but it was spotted by the UK Border Agency.

The cannabis - worth more than £9,000 - was set to be delivered to a flat at Highburgh Road in Glasgow.

Low was jailed for a year at Glasgow Sheriff Court for the 2011 offence.

The box was opened, ahead of delivery to Mr Low, and a number of sealed packages were found.

The substance inside tested positive for cannabis.

The package was then reconstructed for a controlled delivery, and the bags of cannabis were replaced with sugar.

Sheriff Sam Cathcart told Low he had taken into account that his conviction had an impact on him and his family, but said due to the gravity of the offence the "only appropriate way of dealing with it" was a custodial sentence.

Low won Baftas for the CBBC sketch show Hedz.
