We all know that when it comes to smoking, that stems are a big no-no!! But in this age of reducing waste and using all resources as far as humanly possible, there must be something we can do with them??

Here are five great ways to use cannabis stems.

Tea
Making tea is one of the quickest, easiest and most popular ways to use cannabis stems. Stems contain some THC; however, it is minimal compared to flower or trim, so whilst you will experience some psychoactive effects, they may not be powerful.
First, decarboxylate the stems  to activate any cannabinoids
Next, put the decarboxylated stems in a coffee filter, with a teabag of your choice for flavour
Boil some water.
Add the stems and allow to brew for seven to eight minutes
Drain and serve.
To allow for the maximum cannabinoid effect, use a high-fat liquid like coconut oil, cream of whole fat milk.

Cannabis Stem Butter
You will need at least ¼ oz of stems or more.
Grind the stems up in a food processor and add them to a saucepan with butter.
Let the mixture simmer on low heat for around 45 minutes
Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or fine sieve.
Cover and allow to cool completely
store the butter in the fridge, use as required
Stem butter will be much less potent than regular cannabis butter.
As the stems contain minimal THC, this butter makes for an excellent option for milder cannabis-infused dishes.

Cannabis Stem Tinctures
Tinctures are concentrated extracts that you can take orally by using a dropper.
You will need a Mason jar and high-percentage grain alcohol for this.
First, fill the Mason jar with stems till nearly full and cover with alcohol.
Store jar in a cool, dark place.
Shake the jar once a day for a week to allow the alcohol to extract all the cannabinoids.
Strain the mixture to remove excess plant matter.
Store the liquid in an opaque or dark glass bottle, and it's ready to use.

Cannabis Stem Wick
Hemp wick is popular with health-conscious cannabis consumers who wish to avoid harmful butane flames from lighters. Even better, you can make it quickly and easily from cannabis stems.

Taking your longest stems, strip them down to their fibres.
Twist the fibres to form a cord.
Dip the cord in beeswax.
     4. Your cannabis stem wick is now ready to use.

Cannabis Stem Hash Oil
Oil made from Stems will be less potent than that made from flower, but it is still suitable for cooking and vaporising. Cannabis stems can be easily made into hash oil.

First, Use a food processor and grind the stems until fine.
Add to a Mason jar with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). This will extract the cannabinoids. You want to use enough alcohol so that all the stems are fully immersed.
Shake the mixture for about 3 minutes and then leave it for 24 hrs.
Strain the now green/brown liquid using a cheesecloth or a coffee filter
Pour the mixture into a bowl to let the alcohol evaporate. Depending on the amount of alcohol in the mix, this might take a day or so.
The result will be a thick green tar-like hashish. It can be difficult to smoke, as it is so concentrated and sticky, so it is best for vaporising rather than using in a pipe.
