Lady Gaga has been pictured many times over the year indulging in a joint backstage or whilst she is in off-duty mode.

In the Netflix documentary, "Gaga: Five Foot Two," released back in 2017 Lady Gaga went into things further, detailing how cannabis has helped her manage the chronic pain she encounters from fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a muscular disorder that causes pain, fatigue, and mood issues.

She has also conveyed how it helps her to cope with the stresses that accompany a life in the spotlight.

According to a 2011 interview she also claimed that she likes to smoke weed when she writes music as she finds that it assists her in the creative process.

"I smoke a lot of pot when I write music. So I'm not gonna, like, sugarcoat it that I'm some, like, sober human being 'cause I'm not," Lady Gaga in a 2011 interview with '60 Minutes.'

The singer and actress mentioned in a later radio interview in 2013 that the stress on her to constantly make great music led to her relying on weed a little too much. Going as far as to say that at one point in her life, she was addicted to cannabis.

"I was living on another psychedelic plane, numbing myself completely, and looking back I do see now that some of it had to do with my hip pain. I didn't know where the pain was coming from so I was just in a lot of pain and very depressed all the time and not sure why,"

What did Lady Gaga Say about her Love of Weed in her Netflix Documentary?

Lady Gaga’s Netflix documentary made headlines when it came out for its personal, behind-the-scenes look at the pop star’s life. It included moments of grief, and told of her battle with chronic pain. However one anecdote shares the story of how Gaga made fellow pop Icon Beyoncé rather uncomfortable by blazing up in front of her one too many times.

That was the night I gave Beyoncé, like, a panic attack,” Lady Gaga tells a friend in a clip that plays out during the ending credits. When asked how she continues:

I don’t know, I just always feel like when I’m with her and Jay-Z, I’m always like hanging out in the corner with like nine joints hanging out of my mouth being like “What’s up?!” and she’s like “You’re not a lady but why? How is this working?”

The pop Icon has said that over the years, she has dabbled with various drugs to sidestep difficult emotions – particularly those that come from being constantly scrutinised in the public eye.

“I’ve been addicted to various things since I was young. Most heavily over the past seven years. A friend gave me this term, ‘I lily pad from substance to substance,’ because I get to a point where I can’t go any further with one substance so I move to another.”
