CBD May Have Powerful Anticancer Effects on Melanoma: New Study

They discovered that CBD alters the way DNA is methylated, which is a way of regulating gene expression. This led to the activation of a specific gene known as LRSAM1, which has been shown to have cancer-fighting properties. Increased activity of this gene significantly enhanced the death of melanoma cells and slowed their growth.

The researchers concluded that "CBD exhibits powerful anticancer activity in melanoma by modulating the PPARγ–TET1 complex, leading to LRSAM1 activation and slowing tumor progression." This study provides the first evidence that CBD can directly influence gene activity related to cancer and may be a promising candidate for treating melanoma.
While these results come from preclinical research, they position CBD as a potential new option for melanoma treatment and point to the importance of epigenetic changes in developing future cancer therapies.
