Writers at Coronation Street are set to introduce a new story line in 2016 that shows a disabled character called Izzy turning to cannabis as a form of pain relief for her condition.
A spokesman from the show told a newspaper reporter "The show has researched this issue extensively and, whilst Izzy will take cannabis to try and alleviate her pain.
The programme will look at all aspects of this debate and examine the legal implications and the far reaching consequences of her actions for her family."
