A brief overview of the current situation of German cannabis social clubs: While some are preparing for their first harvest, other clubs are still worried about their cultivation permit.

CSC-Niedersachsen

The first cannabis social club in Germany to receive a cultivation permit was the CSC-Niedersachsen e.V. in Ganderkesee. They got started right away so that the imminent harvest of the classic White Widow could now be announced. Due to the high demand, another club, the Hanfwerk Delmenhorst, will soon be established in the immediate vicinity.

Green Leaf Society

Meanwhile, Berlin is also expecting to be able to bring in the first harvest this year. The Green Leaf Society is currently the only social club in Berlin to be pleased to have a cultivation permit. As difficult as the state has had to clarify who is responsible, at least the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district granted this first permit at the end of August. As soon as a corresponding legal regulation is in place, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lageso) will then take over the processing of applications.

There are currently around 200 clubs in Germany, but only 14 of them currently have a cultivation permit. This includes soChill Green e.V. in Greifswald, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. However, even after receiving the permit, the club was faced with further hurdles, as the CDU attempted to prevent the rental of the property - for which a rental agreement already existed - with a motion entitled 'No cannabis social clubs in municipal properties'.

The club is renting space in the Vorpommern Technology Center from Witeno, a subsidiary of the city. As Nordkurier reported, Johannes Barsch (SPD) countered at the town council meeting as follows:

"If they were consistent, they would write in their proposal that no wine presses, no vineyards, no bars, no tobacco vending machines, no breweries are allowed to be in municipal properties."

Fortunately, the decision was then positive for the club with 24 votes to 14, which brought joy and relief to both tenants and landlords.

Joints Venture

On the other hand, the first cannabis social club in North Rhine-Westphalia was recently able to celebrate its cultivation permit, as the Joint Venture in Bielefeld received it on September 30th. Thanks to “express delivery from Austria” - as WDR reported - the club was able to start with the cuttings straight away. The first harvest is expected in November.
