Last month, on September 16, weed culture icons, B-Real and Cheech Marin, joined together to celebrate the grand opening of the Cypress Hill rapper’s newest Dr. Greenthumb dispensary in L.A.

It was a typical L.A. affair, with a giant mural and platinum albums hanging in the entrance, Chevy low-riders parked outside, meet and greet photo ops with Cheech, and marketing events from other brands.

The new store pays real homage to Cypress Hill, with the dispensary chain owned by B-Real named after the group’s fan-favourite 1998 song.

The new dispensary on Wilshire Boulevard in LA’s Brentwood neighbourhood is home to over 40 brands. The Dr. Greenthumb brand used the opportunity to drop its latest product, a 5-pack of hash-infused pre-rolls containing 3 grams in total, 80%, 20% hash, that retail for $35.

B-Real has plans to keep expanding his weed empire and will open more Dr Greenthumbs stores in L.A. and the surrounding areas by spring 2024.

The plan is to branch out of state for the first time, with two new stores opening in Michigan following the launch of the Insane cannabis line.

“We didn’t just want to open up just anywhere; we wanted to ensure we had a strong presence in these places.” B-Real
He said about his childhood in L.A., “It’s crazy growing up here, and many of us don’t think we would have opportunities.”

He goes on to say that. He hopes kids today use tech to find alternative lanes to gain themselves a path towards creating a better life.
.
“In the gang culture, I was very close-minded to anything other than soldiering. If kids are not good at sports or music, there are other things to get them into that will help pull them out of that shit.”
