NBA star Chris Webber recently announced the launch of his cannabis brand "Players Only" along with business partner Levetta Willis. The Hall of Famer will collaborate with familiar names such as Quavo, Raekwon, Royde da 5'9'', Jason Williams, and Matt Barnes as part of his business venture.

Webber's Players Only is to roll out several products, including marijuana strains, oil cartridges, pre-rolls, vapes, and sports recovery and performance supplements. In addition, Players Only will also feature branded apparel and footwear.

The upstart brand's offerings will be available at select Gage and Cookies dispensaries across Michigan.

"Players Only is more than a cannabis brand – it's a lifestyle brand," Webber said. "We truly have a unique opportunity to change the narrative around cannabis, empower rising entrepreneurs and set a new standard in this growing industry. We're thrilled to launch our versatile offerings and begin the process of creating meaningful economic change in communities across Michigan. Shout out to TerrAscend and Gage - our Michigan family. Much love to Cookies and Berner, let's go!"

A statement was also shared from Players Only co-founder and President Lavetta Willis, who said: "We have been working with legacy cultivators and operators seeking to establish their place in the regulated market for quite some time."

Willis added: "The opportunity to incorporate legacy strains and expertise into the Players Only platform and menu furthers our goal of uplifting black entrepreneurs who have been building brands and intellectual properties for decades."

The first strains made available include C4, Time Out, and G.O.A.T.'s Milk, as well as Non-Laters and Whipped Cherries. More cannabis strains to be introduced by the brand in September include Blueberry Hotcakes and Ray Jackson's Black Sox.

Reviewers have described C4 to have a hashy, Afghani-like quality. G.O.A.T.'s Milk is said to be more on the sativa side and contains a balanced amount of THC and CBD, while Whipped Cherries has been praised for its delicious taste.

As the brand launched, a number of collaborations were announced, too. One of the partnerships is with Raekwon from Wu-Tang Clan, which will see the launch of Compliments of the Chef and its affiliation with Citizen Grown. Another collab features Hassim Robinsons and Winner's Circle Genetics, which is to introduce the PB&J strain and also Quavo's BIRKINZ to Michigan's weed market, among others.

The five-time NBA All-Star player recently appointed former teammate Matt Barnes as Chief Collaborations Officer while launching "The Smoke" with his partner and co-host, Stephen Jackson. The offering's name is a nod to Barnes and Jackson's popular SHOWTIME series, "All the Smoke."

Launch weekend kicked off with a limited edition brand collaboration with the Players Only x Packwoods 2.5G Blunt made available in select stores.
