A WIDNESIAN who was arrested after two tents with cannabis plants growing in them were found in a loft has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Nicholas Hughes, 29, of Greenway Road in Appleton, was sentenced by Judge Thompson at Chester Crown Court on Friday, September 12, for one count of production of Class B drugs (cannabis) and one count of extracting electricity.
He was handed an eight-month prison sentence suspended for the next two years and will also spend the next 12 months under supervision.
Police officers executed a warrant earlier this year on Wednesday, March 5, at a property on Milton Avenue.
During a search of the premises, two tents were discovered in the loft with a small crop of cannabis plants growing in them, while the electricity supply had also been bypassed to the value of more than £2,000.
PC Dawn Taylor investigated the case.
She said: "This warrant is part of our ongoing commitment to tackle illicit drugs use in the area.
