They have been seized by police from the town's drug dealers.
But now hundreds of buckets and pots are to be put to good use in Huddersfield.
The containers salvaged by officers who have uncovered cannabis farms and factories are now being offered to schools and community groups for them to use.
It's an idea thought up officers working for the Kirklees Rural Neighbourhood Policing team and they have already had a good response from groups who want to use them for garden schemes.
In many of the cannabis farms uncovered, plants are grown under strong lights in row after row of plastic buckets.
Pc Sally Baines said: "We have loads and loads of buckets and containers to give away. These have all been seized from cannabis factories that we've dismantled and we'd like them to be used for growing flowers and vegetables rather than Class B drugs.
"We will be contacting all the schools in Colne Valley, Holme Valley and Kirkburton and Denby Dale to see if they would like some for their gardening clubs, but we'd also like to offer some to community groups in these areas too.
Usually they're destroyed along with all the other bits and pieces used for growing cannabis, but it's a terrible waste. We've been overwhelmed with requests, which is brilliant!
"We're so glad they'll be going to good homes and being used for something positive. Hopefully we'll be able to let you know what they're being used for and put photos on our Facebook page.
"A lot of the requests have been for unique reasons and we're really chuffed to be helping these groups and organisations out".
