Traffic police in Hull have featured on a new BBC One documentary. Officers were seen discovering a cannabis factory in the house of a man they had pulled over in the new series of Motorway Cops.
The officers, from the regional roads policing team, found around 80 plants in the house.
The man claimed he was growing the plants for his own use, saying: "I can't afford to buy it, so I thought I would grow it."
However, police didn't believe his claims.
PC Rob Jones said: "There is no way on God's green earth he is growing all that for himself.
"There are enough plants there to make thousands of spliffs. It would take hundreds of years to smoke all that himself."
The officers decided to visit the man's home after finding cannabis in his car when they stopped him.
Motorway Cops was screened on BBC One last night and will return next Monday at 9pm.
