'When they announced the party was over, I got the biggest whiff of weed as I went to collect my coat,' the source said.
'They clearly didn't care about the smoking ban and just lit up in the upstairs foyer
The party was packed out with VIP guests who had attended the ceremony hosted by Sarah-Jane Crawford and Mel B earlier in the night, and while the former was spotted having a dance in the Hilton's ballroom the latter barely made an appearance.
According to The Sun, Mel and her husband Stephen Belafonte 'struggled' to get into the building thanks to the crowd of gatecrashers trying to push their way in.
'She only stayed for ten minutes before escaping with Stephen and going straight home,' a source told the newspaper.
Clearly Sarah-Jane was having more fun as she partied with the likes of Alexandra Burke, Vas Morgan and Lauren Pope.
Ella Eyre and Rudimental's Locksmith also were spotted mingling amongst the guests as well as Mel B's X Factor contestant Jake Quickenden who certainly looked like he was enjoying the female attention.
Old school garage fans got a treat when MC Harvey and MC Romeo took to the stage to perform So Solid Crew's hit 21 Seconds which had the dancefloor turnt up.
Shortly afterwards at around 12.30 am, the party was shut down and people rushed to get their coats and head home, Jamaican patty in hand.
A MOBOs spokesperson said: 'Due to the party's popularity, towards the end of the night there was a minor incident outside involving lots of people trying to get in at the same time, which was quickly dealt with.'
