A court in Carlisle heard he decided to sell cannabis so he could save for a house and car.
Jack Bates was given an eight-month prison sentence which was suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to complete a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and in addition he futher received a four-month night time curfew.
Judge Barbara Forrester told Bates “You seem to have taken a rather cool-headed approach to selling cannabis.
“It is a very dangerous substance. You will learn as you get older that, as you continue to use, the dangers increase. When you are in your teens you can take or leave drugs. But once in your twenties you get addicted very quickly. It can cause severe damage to mental health which is irreparable.”
