Police have uncovered a cannabis factory heated by 115 solar panels on the roof of an industrial estate in Sussex.

The building, situated near Horsham, contained 500 cannabis plants worth an estimated £500,000.

Three people have been arrested, a 33-year-old woman, a 40-year-old and a 55-year-old man on drugs charges.

Inspector Clare McKnight said: ‘The police acted on information provided by our local community, and recovered a significant amount of cannabis.

‘Drugs have a devastating effect on a wide variety of people and we are committed to holding those to account who are involved with illegal drugs.'

A spokesman added there were ‘several power sources' used.

The arrests were part of a wider drugs operation in the area, with warrants at four locations issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

‘This large scale operation has resulted in a significant step forward in our quest against drug supply in our communities,' added Insp McKnight.
