A man was found with a stash of cannabis skunk worth around £4,930 intended for the streets of Preston, after being caught by a police sniffer dog.
Preston Crown Court heard Christopher Atkinson, also known as Christopher Lee Ianson, 34, was visited by police at his home on Norris Street, Preston, in connection with an investigation regarding a dog.
Atkinson, who has 25 convictions on his record for 45 offences, pleaded guilty to possession of a class B drugs with intent to supply, and possession of a class B drug which relates to a further £7,575 of cannabis found in his house which he said was for his personal use.
He was given seven months, suspended for two years, and a three month curfew, and must pay a £100 surcharge.
Prosecuting, Lisa Worsley, said police had attended on February 13.
She added: “The officer noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from the living room.
“On looking behind a chair with the assistance of a drugs dog, she found a black rucksack, which contained a plastic bag containing 493g of cannabis skunk.”
Police also found a grinder and snap bags, and a stash of other forms of cannabis in plastic tubs and boxes upstairs.
The defendant said the herbal cannabis was for his own use.
In a basis of plea, he said he had been promised a modest financial reward for acting as a “warehouse”.
Defending, Daniel Prowse said the other cannabis had been for his own use to smoke because “nobody was interested” in buying leaf cannabis.
The judge, Recorder John Corless, said: “In effect you were holding the substance for another as a warehouse man effectively. That is part of the chain of supplying drugs.”
