At Truro Magistrates' Court Richard Liam Smith, 36, of Pendale Square, Redannick, Truro, pleaded guilty to possessing 45.10 grams of the drug on April 27.
He told the police that amount would last him about a month. He liked to have a smoke each night and had been doing so since he was 21.
Smith told the magistrates he used the drug to help his back pain, but had cut down and was trying to give it up.
He was fined £200 and £105 costs and surcharge
