The biggest polling sample of its kind was conducted by YouGov on behalf of the Centre for Medicinal Cannabis (CMC) and the Cannabis Advocacy and Support Services (CPASS), the survey involved 10,000 people and it concluded that approximately 2.8 percent of adults in the UK use cannabis that has been sourced illegally to treat medical conditions. Dr Daniel Couch from the CMC, said: “robust clinical evidence is needed to evaluate the safety and efficiency of cannabinoid medicines. For the first time we have reliable, representative data regarding the number of people in Britain using cannabis as a medicine. The findings are astounding and present a national challenge.” The Independent
