WHEN a prisoner took a selfie of him in his cell with his cannabis plant, it was only a matter of time before the smile was wiped firmly off his face.
The inmate, Marcin Zendarski, posted the photo on Facebook.
He had smuggled an illegal smartphone into his Austrian jail which he used to take the picture.
He had also managed to smuggle in cannabis seeds and grow the plant secretly in his cell, in Garsten jail, Upper Austria.
But when his photo showing how he had outsmarted prison wardens began to circulate on the internet, it eventually came to the attention of the guards.
They then called in extra officers to search the entire jail for mobile phones and any other illegal plants.
A multitude of illegal substances, plants, and smart phones were found - making Zendarski hardly flavour of the month at the jail.
He is now under special watch after receiving threats from other convicts.
