A 66-year-old man has been arrested after Avon and Somerset Police uncovered two cannabis factories on the same day.
Intelligence from the local community helped to lead a PCSO to an address in Timsbury on Friday, April 12 where it was suspected cannabis was being cultivated after a strong smell of the plant was reported.
When the property was searched four mature cannabis plants were discovered alongside a range of cultivation equipment and evidence of recently harvested plants.
Further enquiries led officers to another address six miles away in Chilcompton where a further seven plants, three bin liners full of harvested plants and growing equipment was seized.
Sergeant Geoff Cannon from Radstock Police Station said: "Yet again, this proves that cannabis cultivation is occurring in innocent looking houses in areas across the region. However, local communities are alert to the problem and regularly providing police with useful information leading to further disruption of this illegal activity. The police wish to thank all community members for playing their part in keeping their communities safe from the harm caused by illegal drugs. Anyone cultivating cannabis runs a high risk of getting caught by the police and suffering the consequences."
The 66-year-old man has been released on police bail.
