Police have seized more than 280 cannabis plants after uncovering a factory in Port Talbot.
Police executed a search warrant at the Sandfields property on October 7 and discovered a sophisticated cannabis operation.
The entire upstairs, attic and a ground floor room had been kitted out with cannabis growing equipment, with specialist lighting and fans. The electricity supply had also been tampered with.
Port Talbot Local Policing Inspector Melanie Knight said: “From the outside this house looked like any other in the street but inside the property was a substantial cannabis factory containing a lighting, feeding and venting system.
“In total, 285 cannabis plants were discovered which carry a potential street value of over £150,000.”
Officers executed the search warrant after receiving information from the public who had suspicions about activity at the house.
An investigation into the discovery is continuing.
Inspector Knight said: “This is a great example of the police acting upon on intelligence and concerns of the local community. The message is clear, if you are involved in illegal activities within our community we will find out and we will pursue you.
“Thanks to public information, we have been able to dismantle this unit capable of producing thousands of pounds worth of cannabis.”
