Police seized 42 cannabis plants from the Downham flat
An "overwhelming" smell of marijuana through an air vent has led officers on foot patrol to a cannabis farm in a Downham flat.
The Downham Safer Neighbourhoods Team made a number of enquiries after smelling the plant at Langthorne Court on Thursday evening.
Concerned residents also concerned their suspicions.
The flat in question was identified and the man who answered the door was arrested at the scene.
Officers entered the premises and found a fully-functional cannabis farm with 42 marijuana plants seized.
The man was taken to custody where he was interviewed and bailed while officers are currently carrying out further enquiries.
Downham Safer Neighbourhoods Team Sergeant Karl Parish said: "This was a great piece of work by officers doing routine patrols on foot within the South Cluster of Lewisham Borough.
The serious issues caused by the cultivation of cannabis have a real negative effect on local residents.”
