However, that didn't happen, which was in the most part thanks to that fact that loyal Directioners stood by singers Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, and the overall opinion was that the whole drama just wasn't that big of a deal.

And though the singers were seen joking about cannabis and "illegal substances" as they were being driven through Peru during that leg of the Where We Are tour, it was noted at the time that it is entirely legal to hold small quantities of marijuana for personal use in Peru.

But of course, pro-cannabis campaigners have been fighting for years to have marijuana legalised globally - it is already legal in many countries - and it's been reported today that some of those campaigners are joining forces with One Direction fans in Los Angeles to stage a "pot-fest" during the band's upcoming gigs in California.

According to the Daily Star Sunday, during One Direction's concerts on September 11, 12 and 13, fans will arrive at the venues with "huge supplies of cannabis and drug paraphernalia".

Of the plan, Pasadena Medical Marijuana Coalition spokesman Jon Walters said, "We want to see every state follow the lead of Colorado and Washington and make marijuana use legal for everyone.

"You will be amazed at the number of bongs, glass pipes and joints on view all three nights the band is here."

However, by ‘advertising' the fact that he and One Direction fans plan to stage this "show of support", he has probably alerted law enforcement in the area to it, and so we would guess that every fan who arrives to watch One Direction perform live at those gigs will be searched...
