Police says more than 300 plants were found in the raid

Police have uncovered a cannabis factory in Meltham.

Officers revealed that about 300 plants were seized when they raided a property in the village.

Exact details of the find remain under wraps as police investigations are continuing.

No-one has yet been arrested.

The raid happened on Saturday morning. It is not know if the police received a tip-off but they continually urge people with suspicions about drugs activity to come forward.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "The Kirklees Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a drugs warrant at an address in the Meltham area on Saturday morning with the assistance of the Operational Support Unit.

"A huge cannabis grow was found at the address. We estimated in excess of 300 plants were found, all at various stages of growth.

"The plants were seized and will be destroyed.

"Nobody was found at the address but investigations are ongoing.

"If you have suspicions about cannabis being grown in your area, call us on 101".

It is believed police also recovered hydroponic growing equipment including lights.
