A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison after being found guilty of possession of cannabis with intent to supply at Guildford Crown Court yesterday.
Pawel Imielinski of Cumberland Park, London, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs after his car was searched by officers at Cobham Services on 31 March.
The traffic officers were on routine patrol on the M25 when a call was received reporting a silver Jaguar being driven erratically between junctions 8 and 9.
Following a search of the vehicle, officers uncovered around 22 kilograms of cannabis on the back seat.
West Surrey Detective Inspector Paul Burrill said: "This latest conviction demonstrates our determination to continue to tackle the supply of drugs within the county. This is a safe place for residents and workers alike but for those coming in to deal drugs it is not the place to be.
"I would also like to reassure residents that when we receive information about drug dealing from concerned members of the public, we do act on it. I would like to encourage residents to continue providing us with information about suspected drug dealing and taking so that we can stamp it out of our neighbourhoods."
"If you, or someone you know, are experiencing drug-related problems or any anti-social behaviour please don't suffer alone. You can contact Surrey Police on 101 and they will do everything they can to help resolve the issue."
DI Burrill added: "Surrey Police simply will not tolerate drugs offences and we will always relentlessly pursue those involved in the supply of drugs. This man was arrested thanks to a tip-off by members of the public and we would always encourage anyone to come forward if they suspect drug taking or drug dealing is taking place."
