police raided his house in the town before he could cultivate his first crop.
Adrian Joseph Hart, 38, of Queen Street, Louth, admitted producing 28 cannabis plants at his home.
Skegness Magistrates Court heard that police executed a search warrant at his home on October 11.
They found 28 cannabis plants, some of which were in a hydroponic system, spread across three rooms in the house.
Hart admitted to police that he was producing the drug for his own use because he didn't want to use street dealers.
He told officers that he had spent £1,300 on buying the equipment and had ordered the seeds through mail order from a UK company.
Mitigating, Lauren Fisher said it was all for Hart's own use as he had used cannabis since he was a teenager.
She said none of the plants had actually produced any yield before the police raid and it was the first time he had produced his own cannabis. She added he had no intention of repeating the offence.
Hart was given a 12 month community order and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work for the community. He was also ordered to pay £40 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
