POLICE found cannabis plants in a man's home and later discovered evidence on his mobile phone of drug transactions, a court heard.
Jason Hynes, 25, of Newton Grove, Grimsby, admitted producing and supplying cannabis.
Michele Stuart-Lofthouse, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that police searched the home of Hynes on October 30 over an unrelated matter and discovered nine large cannabis plants growing in an upstairs bedroom.
There was lighting and other equipment. The estimated yield was 405g, with a street value of £2,300.
Numerous text messages between Hynes and others over drug transactions were found on a mobile phone.
He admitted he had bought cannabis plant seedlings and had previously given drugs to a friend and sold some stashes.
Nigel Sloane, mitigating, said Hynes claimed he was not now involved in cannabis. The "thought of prison terrifies him".
Hynes was given an eight-month suspended prison sentence, 150 hours' unpaid work and a two-month 7pm to 7am curfew.
