More than 1,000 cannabis plants have been discovered growing inside a former East Yorkshire social club.

Officers from Humberside Police uncovered the cannabis factory inside the former Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB) Club on Chapel Street, Goole on Saturday morning.

It is thought more than 1,000 cannabis plants were seized by police officers as the area was cordoned off for investigations to begin.

Plants from the factory could be seen through windows leading onto the street.

An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said: "I have never seen anything like it.

"You could smell the plants all the way down the street."

Humberside Police declined to confirm if anyone had been arrested in connection with the raid.
