A Peterborough landlord claims drugs criminals secretly rented his house and turned it into a cannabis factory.
Owner Jeff Pitt (57) was shocked to find the premises in Welbourne, Werrington, left badly damaged with a stench of cannabis in every room.
He has owned the property for seven years, but after having problems with tenants in the past he arranged for an estate agent to deal with the property.
But when he went to visit the home on Friday to check up on his investment, he discovered the remains of what he believed was a drugs factory.
He said "I'm absolutely fuming. When I walked in I felt physically sick with the damage they had done.
"I had redecorated the place four months ago, and spent a lot of time and money on it. But now there is so much damage there.
"There are holes in the walls, in the doors, in the cupboards.
"While there were no drugs there anymore, there was still evidence of what was there before. There wasn't a room that had not been ruined.
"There were bits of foil in the loft, in wardrobes, and damage everywhere, even the downstairs toilet had holes in it.
"The stench of the drugs was still terrible, so they must have cleared it up quickly.
"I have three properties in Peterborough, and I have never had anything like this happen to me before."
No arrests have been made, and police are now trying to trace the culprits.
A police spokesman said: "We were called by a landlord on June 20 to report that a property in Welbourne, Werrington, had been used as a cannabis factory.
"The equipment had been removed and no plants were present."
