He was snubbed from the Grammys so Justin Bieber made sure he made headlines in other ways by apologising on live TV for smoking cannabis.
The 18-year-old Canadian superstar hit the confession box as he hosted America's Saturday Night Live programme.
Playing the role as the president of Miley Cyrus' fanclub in a sketch and talking about himself, the Biebs said: ‘I also heard he got busted for smoking weed and he's really sorry about it and people make mistakes and he's never gonna do it again.'
The star was making reference to pictures of him at a hotel room party at the beginning of the year holding a dodgy looking cigarette.
The singer also appeared to hammer the last nail in the coffin to his broken romance with 20-year-old star, Selena Gomez, when he handed out roses to women in the audience and declared: ‘Tonight, I'm looking a future Mrs Bieber.'
Justin made his star showing hours before the Grammys in LA, where he had been snubbed from proceedings.
Ahead of the Grammys, Bieber said he felt the same way as his manager Scooter Braun, who said organisers had ‘blew it on this one' after failing to nominate the Baby singer.
‘My whole life I've dreamed of winning a Grammy [but] at this point the excitement of that has gone down,' Bieber later said. ‘I'm more excited to just make great music for my fans.'
‘That's just something that if it happens, it happens.'
