A man was fined today after being caught with seven bags of cannabis and driving without insurance.
Jason Boatang, 20, of Pine Close, Leyton, pleaded guilty to the offences at Thames Magistrates Court this morning.
The court heard that at 8.45pm on December 12, Mr Boatang was pulled over by police while driving in Cathall Road, Leyton, and they conducted a search after noting a strong smell of cannabis.
He was arrested after a total of seven bags of cannabis were found hidden in the car and police also found he did not have insurance for the vehicle.
Mr Boatang, who is currently living with his parents, said the cannabis was for personal use.
For the offences he was fined a total of £315 and received six penalty points on his licence.
