A huge cannabis factory which would yield a potential annual income of £250,000 has been uncovered in Chelsfield.

Officers executed a drugs warrant at a farmhouse in the village at 7.30am yesterday as part of a proactive operation designed to target drugs supply across the Borough of Bromley.

A cannabis factory containing 600 fully grown cannabis plants was discovered in one of the outbuildings of the secluded farmhouse.

No-one was present at the property at the time of the raid.

A 26-year-old woman who arrived at the property as officers were searching it was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis at an address in Orpington later the same day.

Both remain in custody at a south London police station.

Sergeant Paul Law said: "This is a great result following concerns raised by the community. We will continue to act on information given to us by local residents and tackle the causes of crime on our borough."
