"LET us know where it is growing and we will act."
That was the appeal to members of the public from Humberside Police after they seized around 30 cannabis plants from a home in Grimsby.
Police officers said it was a problem "all over the area".
Residents in Clark Avenue, off Cromwell Road, said they were shocked by the discovery and expressed their concern for the many families with young children living in the street.
A man in his mid-20s was detained by police after they swooped on the terraced property at around noon yesterday.
They discovered a cannabis factory in the upstairs front bedroom.
Sergeant Simon Duffield of Humberside Police said: "It was a professional set-up.
"We got information from local residents. We will always act upon the information we receive.
"We need to build a bigger picture in order to present it to the magistrates so we can obtain a warrant.
"In this case the information came in very recently about cannabis being grown."
PC Paul Anderson said: "It was a quick in and out. We acted on a warrant from magistrates. It was from information received.
"We acted because it is a high priority. It is a big problem in the Grimsby area. It is something we are looking to stamp out.
"We welcome intelligence from the public and will act on it."
He added: "It is quite a nice street. We do not get problems down there."
A resident spoke of her concerns.
The woman, who did not wish to be named, said: "Everyone has had to keep their windows open because of the smell.
"It is a worry because there are a lot of families with children down here."
Another neighbour, who did not wish to be named, added: "All I heard was the banging when they took all the equipment and plants away in bags. I don't want to be anywhere near where there are drugs with having a newborn baby."
A woman resident said: "When I saw the police vans I was scared and nervous. It is a shock. I can't say I have suspected anything before now. At least it has been dealt with now."
