A couple growing and selling cannabis appeared at court terrified at the prospect of going to prison.

Emma Blunt, 20, and her boyfriend, George Davis, 28, both admitted being concerned in the production of the drug and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Prosecutor Julian Kesner told Gloucester Crown Court police raided their Dark Cottage home in Allsopp Close, Newnham on October 7, last year.

Officers found five cannabis plants growing in their home, worth a potential street value of £2,700.

Mr Kesner said: "Three were being grown under a single lamp in the loft and unusually two were found growing in the garden.

"On the scale of what we deal with in the production of cannabis this is at the lowest end.

"It was unsophisticated. The electricity supply had not been diverted.

"Both the defendant's phones were seized and there were text messages which the drugs officer said clearly established they were both concerned in the supply.

"They were making some money out of it, but it was not a substantial enterprise."
