A CANNABIS grower claimed more than 100 plants found in his house were for his own use.

A CANNABIS grower claimed more than 100 plants found in his house were for his own use.

David Mole planned to use the harvested drug for pain relief, Durham Crown Court heard.

Mole, 54, of Fourth Street, Horden, admitted producing a class B drug between September 2013 and April this year.

“The photographs show this was a sophisticated growing operation,” said Shaun Dryden, prosecuting.

“Investigators calculate the plants could yield up to £39,000 in monetary terms.

“The Crown simply cannot accept this much cannabis is for the use of one person.”

Judge Robert Adams ordered a hearing to take place on December 11 to determine if the cannabis is for Mole’s personal use.

The judge bailed Mole to return to court for the hearing.
