A drug dealer was ordered to write a 5,000-word essay on why cannabis is bad after claiming a shoulder injury stopped him from doing community service.
Terry Bennett has to compile a dissertation on the dangers of drugs before next Tuesday or face 12 months in jail.
‘I asked the judge if I could write an argument for and against cannabis but he said since it is illegal, I should only write about the bad,' he said after appearing at Bristol crown court.
‘I'm just going to write about certain dangers caused by cannabis that people might not necessarily know.'
Bennett, 32, from Gloucestershire, was caught with almost a kilo of cannabis and admitted possession with intent to supply.
He was ordered to do 240 hours of unpaid work but said he was prevented by a snowboarding injury.
The father-of-two, who lives with his mother in Cold Ashton, added: ‘I've already done a bit of research.'
