A chicken farmer has appeared in court accused of growing more than £100,000 worth of cannabis on his smallholding in North Devon.
A chicken farmer has appeared in court accused of growing more than £100,000 worth of cannabis on his smallholding in North Devon.
Edward James, aged 67, was allegedly found with 800 plants on his land at Bratton Fleming when he was raided by police last year.
He appeared before Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, at Exeter Crown Court for a preliminary hearing where he was not required to enter a plea.
The Judge set a trial date for July and adjourned the case for a further hearing in March.
James, of View Farm, Bratton Fleming, Barnstaple, is accused of producing cannabis and possession of the drug with intent to supply.
He was found with around 800 plants with an estimated value of £109,000 at his farm.
