Data backs up what we already know: British stoners like nachos and 'Spaced'
LONDON — It seems regular cannabis users in the UK are living up their "munchies" stereotype.
LONDON — It seems regular cannabis users in the UK are living up their "munchies" stereotype.
Nachos, chips and cheeseburgers are revealed as some of their favourite foods in new research, released Friday by polling company YouGov.
The research displays some of the key characteristics of Britain's regular cannabis smokers, giving us an insight into who they are, what their interests are and what they do for fun.
Aside from snacking on junk food, the data tells us that the majority of regular cannabis smokers hail from central Scotland, drink Red Bull, wear Ted Baker clothes and drive BMWs.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, their top niche interest is "sitting around and doing as little as possible," followed by "Amsterdam," while they're more interested in sex and relationships than they are politics or international news. They also like Cheech and Chong and Wikileaks.
The research shows regular cannabis smokers are mostly men, aged between 25 and 39, with less than £125 a month in disposable income, and work in media and publishing, advertising, marketing, and architecture and interior design.
Turning to entertainment, YouGov found that Apocalypse Now, Let's Be Cops, True Romance, The Fifth Element and Dredd are among their favourite movies, while Family Guy, Gogglebox, The Young Ones, QI and, again somewhat unsurprisingly, Spaced, are top-watched TV shows.
This is the first in a series of custom profiles that YouGov said it will be releasing, following the launch of its Profiler app last month, with more expected in coming weeks. The Profiler app allows people to search for a person, brand or thing and see what its surveys have discovered about it.
